What is it with the Labour party and its elected members in
this area that they seem so reluctant to engage with the public or even to pass
on their views – unless through the pages of the taxpayer funded council website
or newspaper?
It has never been easier to communicate with people than it
is now. Social media makes it instant –you
can express opinions and ask questions via websites, twitter, Facebook. So why don’t they?
Maybe they have no valid opinions to express, or they think
their opinions will be too unpopular. Perhaps they are afraid to engage because
they do not like taking the flak for any decisions? After all a number of Cabinet members flatly
refused to attend public meetings to discuss the nursery education and other
cuts.
RCT Labour took down their website some months ago – the one
with all the Council manifesto promises they have since broken. Their new one has been under construction for
months.
Twitter seems to be an unknown phenomenon as far as the vast
majority of Labour councillors are concerned, and none appear to run open Facebook
pages.
Maybe in their arrogance they don’t think they need to
communicate too much with their public – after all they will surely continue to
blindly vote Labour. The Councillors can
rely on the ‘Outlook’ magazine to force their propaganda down people’s
throats. They don’t actually want to go
telling people what they really think now do they? If that is they really are capable of any independent
thought.

Generally speaking, if you look at the make-up of power in RCT, there are perhaps just 5 people or even less who decide everything. The words spoken are always 'We are doing this for the benefit of all'. This is one of the greatest lies of all time. Those five oligarchs do not feel the need speaking about what they are doing or intend doing as they have a solid backrow of 'yes-men and women'. Nobodies who will never understand they are merely cannon fodder. And that my friends is the Labour party today in RCT.
And the Lib Dems are???????
Yes, and your point is?
For Oligarchs - read - Mike Powell, Karen Roberts and perhaps that well known saviour of the common man; morality and the environment - DutchEnery!!
Ah I get your drift, such a pity you did not say that immediately. I am no LibDem anymore(resigned in anger) but most happy to accept the other nomenclatures. One point I'd like to make, the LibDems are in opposition in RCT (it might have escaped your notice but I'll forgive you) and as such are quite entitled, nay totally required to investigate and comment on some of the ludicrous and simply stupid ideas coming out of Clydach Vale, not to mention the questionable attitude some councillors display. Lastly, look up the word oligarch and you will note that your anonymous answer is wrong as M Powell, K Roberts and me are NOT in government and are not in the US. Tesco do sell dictionaries if you're interested.
An Oligarch does not necessarily have to be in government but part of a (perceived in the case of the Lib Dems.)powerful group of people. Can also be connected through bloodlines, royalty etc., Time to update your dictionary DutchEnery!!
Even Wiki says:
Oligarch - a member of an oligarchy, a form of government.
Well, I am not going to argue with an anonymous and obvious Labour supporter. Carry on fleecing the electorate, the bill will be presented soon enough.
Actually, I am not a Labour, Plaid Cymru or Lib Dem supporter, so carry on guessing! Oh and you still need a new dictionary!!
Hmmm, I've got 3 English, 4 Welsh and 2 Thesauri, 2 Dutch and 1 German.
Do I need more? Glad to hear you're not a politician. I like you already.
One with "O" pages perhaps?
